A workaholic Korean detective (Hae-jun) is sent to investigate a crime scene, where a question mark hangs over the circumstances leading to the death of a man. Was he pushed or did he jump? And is the man’s widow (Seo-rae) complicit in the events? Director Park Chan-wook’s multi-layered and sophisticated film has echoes of the undercurrent of desire seen in his previous work The Handmaiden as Hae-jun and Seo-rae’s relationship becomes more complex, and truth, deception and attraction become intertwined. It’s another treat from the Korean master, with cinematography described as ‘dangerously handsome’ in the Guardian. Don’t miss it!
